More than 3000 km of signposted trails in Savoie and Haute-Savoie

Thanks to its magnificent high-altitude trails, Savoie Mont Blanc is a very popular destination for mountain bikers, and several resorts and villages now open their ski lifts to mountain bikes during the summer season.

FFC approved mountain biking centres


Savoie and Haute-Savoie has 12 French Cycling Federation (FFC) approved mountain biking areas. Each area provides specific information for mountain biking, a trail map, bike rental, bike-cleaning stations and repair tools, etc.

Rumilly - Albanais
Approved mountain biking centre. Rental, freeride, half-day and full-day rides from easy to difficult, courses for children and adults of all levels of ability.

Chamonix
Numerous trails and high-altitude areas are open to mountain bikers: Brévent/Flégère, La Balme (has a purpose-built descent), Grands Montets, etc.

Flaine
Signposted itineraries throughout the Grand Massif. From easy tours to difficult circuits, the Grand Massif has trails for all.

La Rosière
The Espace San Bernardo, between the Haute-Tarentaise and the Aosta Valley, opens its doors to mountain bikers: 110 km of signposted trails (3 green - 2 blue - 4 red - 5 black). That little extra: qualified instructors and guides, bike rental, lifts, and a free guidebook (French, Italian, English)

Les Arcs
The funicular railway and lifts give access to several MTB descents from Les Arcs to Bourg-Saint-Maurice (1600 m vertical interval). Tourist office: +33 4 79 07 12 57

 

Les Gets
Since it hosted the World Championships in 2004, Les Gets has become one of the world's most famous mountain bike areas. The Paradis VTT bike park is the MTB gateway to the Portes du Soleil's 650 km of signposted trails. All levels are catered for, from easy circuits suitable for families and novices to more "sporty" and highly technical routes.

Les Menuires
Les Menuires boasts 120 km of FFC signposted MTB trails. Divided into 21 circuits covering all levels, the trails follow streams, slopes and ridges across the whole valley. Bike the Three Valleys: an "Evasion 3 Vallées" pass gives access to all the lifts in the "world's largest biking area"!

Morzine
In 1996 Morzine became one of the first resorts in Europe to build a permanent MTB descent. Today, mountain biking is booming in the Portes du Soleil.

Notre-Dame de Bellecombe
A "Diamant Vert VTT" pass gives access to all the lifts in the Val d'Arly, which includes Notre-Dame de Bellecombe, and the Pays du Mont Blanc.

Saint Sorlin d'Arves
The Massif/Arvan Villards/Les Sybelles mountain bike area has 250 km of signposted MTB trails, from green to black.

Val Cenis
480 km of FFC approved mountain bike trails are open to all from experts to families. Two sites, 33 routes, including two within the Vanoise National Park.

Bike skills parks

 Skills parks allow mountain bikers to try out and perfect all sorts of new tricks and techniques. They have been set up in numerous resorts throughout Savoie Mont Blanc.

 

A number of specialist tracks of varying degrees of difficulty have been built, with freeride and freestyle areas, drop zones, wall rides, quarters, steps, step downs and shore zones, etc. - budding freeride bikers have a whole new language to learn!

 

Admission requirements: a full-suspension mountain bike, helmet and protective padding are obligatory.
